Cactus Essences

Cacti are known for their hardiness in extreme climates; their ability to survive with little water and their prickles suggest both their defensive and protective properties. These essences are drawn from plants that are found mainly in South America and Africa. There is no doubt that cacti are excellence representatives of succulent plants, as these fleshy plants stores water. Eons ago as climatic conditions worsened on the planet and the presence of water was gradually reduced, the first cacti appeared in Ancient South America. Especially in those places where the impact of the sun was strongest, some plants began to collect water in their thick stems to overcome periods of severe drought. At first, they differed little from other plants, but eventually they develop the qualities that would make them a new category of succulent plants. The Cacti evolution took place, increasing of their degree of succulence, with some the leaves becoming needle-shaped, and other’s their stem length was reduced by becoming more rounded, until both elements reached the shape we know today.

The Body Language of Cactus and their essences

With their thorny appearance the cacti seemed to be saying. "Warning, stay away: Do not get too close; I know how to defend myself." This is their plant signature and symbolizes the protection of life. They live and flourish in places where no other plant would be able to exist and endure extreme environments setting themselves up as real artists of survival. This feature is clearly demonstrated by some cactus flowers that have an aggressive looking interior: a protective armour of thorns. Cacti store large amount of liquid their juicy flesh, generously swollen with water, is the elixir of life to birds and insects. The cactus essences helps reinforce our defensive capacity, dissipate the fears of lack in times of shortage keeping a sense of hope to survive in critical periods, and "to flourish". Cacti and succulent plants provides warmth and a lightness to the heart allowing it to open.

A note regarding the names of the cactus essences:
Many cacti have only a Latin American name, which turn out to be incomprehensible in this case I have named these essences by their principal energetic healing quality. Many of the cacti family are night blooming and then only once a year, so some changes are inevitable.
