(Haliaeëtus leucocephalus)
Eagles belong to the birds of prey and are the most skilled hunters. They can be found all over the world with the exception of South America. They have no natural enemies besides the man. But these birds of prey are suffering with the increasing environmental pollution. Eagles have a large hooked beak, feather free legs, powerful claws and a wingspan of up to 8.20ft (2.5m). Some species live in the high peaks, other prefer living near waters rich in fish.
There are many eagles, for example: the Spanish imperial eagle, the white-tailed eagle, the lesser spotted eagle, the golden eagle, the steppe Eagle, etc. The essence was made with the bald eagle on Vancouver Island in Canada.
Eagles in Mythology: The eagle appears in many myths as the savior when there is hardship, reaching its own sacrifice in the worst case. Eagles inhabit the highest summits of the world. At the time of the Greeks, the mountains were considered the home of the gods, and in this case, the Eagle is the carrier of the rays of Zeus, to the Romans, of Jupiter. The indigenous tribes worshiped them as mediators to the Great Spirit. The Hopi Indians keep "the medicine of the eagle" a secret and continue practicing their dancing.
Many indigenous rituals, such as the Sun dance, are dedicated to this animal. For Christianity, the eagle symbolizes the omnipotence of God, the belief in the resurrection of Jesus, the resurrection and the baptism. The eagle, with the serpent in its beak, symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, and the eagle eye is taken as the eye of God that sees everything and that shows us that things must always be observed from a higher perspective. In many cultures, it represents justice, power, dignity and greatness. This is why it is the heraldic animal of many royal houses and states, such as Russia, Austria, Germany and United States of America.
