Ants belong to the family Formicidae and the order of the Hymenoptera. The amount of species ranges between 9,000 and 12,500, of which approximately 200 are found in Europe. The oldest findings date back to the Cretaceous era, which is of approximately 100 million years ago, but it is likely that ants exist for approximately 130 million years. They can be found throughout the world, with the exception of Antarctica and a few islands. They have a great influence on ecosystems.

Ant in Mythology: In Greek mythology, it is said that one of the princesses of Phthia, Eurymedousa, was seduced by Zeus in the form of an ant. The Myrmidones were called the "ant-people". It is said that Zeus would have created these men from ants that then were recognized due to their special care in the urbanization of the rocky soils in Aegina, where they worked as ants doing tunnels in the earth, running stones and converting it into fertile land. Ants have a social behavior so highly developed that even today scientists are highly interested in them. They live in harmony in their complex colonies. Such harmony is always directed toward the good of the entire colony. Although there is no chief ordering what each one has to do, their interaction works in such a way that shows an outstanding will power, in which each individual knows what to do for the benefit of everyone.

Unlike human communities where there are hungry or homeless people, here there are no losers. In the Amazon, people know the force of the ants. They are a dominant species. When millions of marabuntas forage to devour everything in their path, sometimes even people must leave their homes. In the indigenous tradition, the ants play an important role. In the Amazon, during an initiation ritual, young men are bitten by many poisonous ants and they endure this to show that they turned into men. Considering that ants weigh approximately 6 to 10 milligrams and measure about 0.8 to 25 mm., it is astonishing that the biomass of all the ants of the Earth is greater than the sum of half of the total biomass of all other insects and of all human beings.

The ant in the interpretation of dreams: They represent the social organization and the working people. The question that appears is: How can I use my energy in favor of the common good?
