Tiger Essence

The tiger, which is the largest member of the cat family, can be immediately recognized by its orange coat with black stripes and white markings. The size, color and pattern of the coat vary with each subspecies. There used to be a total of 8 subspecies, of which 3 were exterminated during the 50s. The remaining 5 are highly threatened.

Tiger in Mythology: In Asia, the tiger is considered the king of the animals. There, the tiger is related to the struggle, the power, the wild and the protection. In China, it is regarded as the guardian of the hunting and it is said that it would accompany the deceased on their journey to the Afterlife. It is able to see well in the dark and that is why it is considered as a giver of light and represents the New Moon. In Chinese Astrology, it represents passion, courage and the audacity to start new things. Buddhists consider it as the Guide to life in the forest and as a teacher so that people reach a higher level of consciousness. In China, it also represents harmful emotions such as anger and rage. The shamans of Asia say that the tiger can see ghosts. In Hinduism, there is the goddess Durga, who rides a tiger and protects life scaring away evil spirits.
