(Ovis ammon f. aries)
The sheep was one of the first animals being domesticated about 10,000 years ago and is closely related to the development of agronomy. They are docile herbivores and accompany men on many continents, from the plains to the high mountains. They live in herds and they are driven by an animal guide, or are under the care of a shepherd. The sheep have a thick shaggy fur, a plump body and relatively short legs. They provide people with wool, milk and meat. The lambs are born in February.
Sheeps in Mythology: People associate different ideas with sheep. They are related, for example, with the innocence or with the predisposition to be sacrificed (the lamb offered in the holocaust). We can also find "the black sheep" that is the way in which a member of a family or group who is regarded as a disgrace, is called. In Greek mythology, they are related to Morpheus, the Greek God of dreams and appearances. For the celts, they were related to Brigit, the mother goddess and giver of light. We can also find Ostara the Germanic goddess of fertility. The celebrations of those times, in which she was worshipped, were related to the sheep. We find the Imbolc holiday, on February 1st when the days become longer and lambs are born.
The sheep in the interpretation of dreams: it represents the soft power of the heart and peace on Earth, or, the other way round, that we allow others to cheat on us and to take advantage of us.
This sheep essence helps us develop more compassion when we are too oriented towards a goal.
On the body level: The essence can help relieve the muscle tension that appears as a result of being inflexible and stubborn. These people have often a sore neck/spine. This rigid point of view can also lead to migraines and headaches.
On the emotional level: The essence can help us develop more compassion in our hearts. We learn to deal with the others and ourselves more lovingly and to be gentler with ourselves and with others. And as a result, we can approach others in a better way and, at the same time, we leave aside our stubbornness in order to take into account the opinions and points of view of other people. We learn to stop pressuring ourselves and also to treat the others with more kindness and tenderness.
On the spiritual level: We learn to release internally and to take things as they are. We relax deeply and also learn to listen to our inner voice and our dreams, and to rely more on our feelings, on our inner voice and on the guidance of God.
