Water Violet

(Hottonia palustris)

Water violet grows in stagnant water or smooth current and very clean waters. This plant, which is resistant to the inclemency of winter, can be found on rare occasions in its habitat of the temperate zones of Europe. The plant stands about 20 centimeters above the water surface. Its flowers with five petals arranged in pinwheel hatch open in May and June.
