(Ferocactus schwarzii)

Ferocactus schwarzíi is native of the wetlands of the virgin forest in the Sierra Madre massif on the west coast of Mexico. It grows there together with mosses, lichens and dwarf orchids populating rock crevices and the inaccessible overhangs of the river gorges. Its yellow flowers of 4cm in diameter appear approximately when the plant has 12 years of life.
