Fly Agar is a highly toxic fungus which is commonly found growing under birches in acid soils and, on rare occasions, it can be found in coniferous forests under spruce specimens. It can be found between August and October. It is recognized by its characteristic appearance (red with white spots, warts). It has a cap of 6 to 25 cm in diameter and it is supported by a white stem with a perennial ring.
